For those who don't know about Cave Story, it is a Japanese shootem-up with a great yet short story. Just recently, I finished a playthrough on my 3DS, and I personally think it was an awesome game, so I just have to recommend it to everyone that I know now. You can either buy the upgraded games like Cave Story+ on Steam or Cave Story 3D for the 3DS which have better graphics and possibly a better soundtrack (depending on what kind of person you are.) or you can download the original game for free from the creator's website. This game is a lot of fun, offers a great soundtrack, and has a story that I love.
